VAC works with people and communities to improve the quality of life in rural Cumbria

About us

Welcome to VAC, the Rural Community Council for Cumbria. A company limited by guarantee, it is a registered charity, responsible for the delivery of a wide range of advice, information and support services to rural communities across Cumbria. Established in 1948, VAC is part of the national ACRE network of Rural Community Councils across England.

VAC supports rural communities by:

Providing access to information and advisory networks.
Advocating the needs of rural Cumbria to decision makers in the public and private sectors, within Regional, National and European Forums.
Enhancing community confidence and ability to explore and bring about change.
Enabling communities to access resources with which to realise their ambitions.

To achieve this, VAC makes resources such as toolkits and case studies available, and also runs a number of projects of value to rural communities.
