Brigham Playground

Brigham Playground

Due to the efforts of the local community and the Parish Council, Brigham now has a much needed children's playground in the centre of the village.

The aim of the project was to construct a safe but stimulating play area for young children. It was considered important that most families would be able to walk to where the playground was sited.

Brigham Playground Association was formed by local people to help raise funds for the project and many different organisations were approached for help, asking for grants or donations. Local fundraising events were organised, these included table top sales and local quiz nights. This generated not only funds but also much needed publicity for the project. The Parish Council were also instrumental in helping to purchase a suitable site within the village itself.

They were asked for their ideas about the type of playground area and equipment they would like to have. Consequently, the area offers something for the very young up to late primary school age groups.

The project took several years to complete but the benefits to the community have made it worthwhile. The playground is a safe environment for young people and their families and friends, a valuable asset which plays an important part in the social life of Brigham village.
