RSCP Aims & Priorities
The Rural Social and Community Programme national aims were:
- To enhance the community capacity building and entrepreneurial capability of rural communities so that these communities can work together to shape their own future
- To help socially excluded individuals in rural communities improve their life chances
- To develop the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and of the town and parish council sector, to reinforce the delivery of the first two aims
The priorities for Cumbria RSCP to meet these national aims were:
- Increasing and developing the activities, skills and resources available to voluntary and community organisations and to the parish and town council sector to enhance the sustainability of their activities.
- Addressing the key challenges arising from social exclusion that affect rural residents, especially young people, the elderly and other disadvantaged groups and issues of rural service delivery.
- Tackling the special challenges faced by the communities in the sparsely populated areas of rural Cumbria.
